Alert-Potentially Deadly Swine Flu spreading throughout the U.S.

By Michael Webster: Syndicated Investigative Reporter. April 25, 2009 at 11:30 PM PST.

Deadly Swine flu has panicked Mexico and is spreading to the USA. Hundreds of Americans have come down with the symptoms and as we as a nation hit somewhere between 100 to  2,000 confirmed deaths by the Pandemic the world as we know it well change dramatically. In Mexico with under one hundred deaths and two thousand infected reported the Mexican government has closed schools and all other public gatherings and soldiers are patrolling the streets after it was confirmed that human to human transmission is occurring and that the virus is a brand new strain which is seemingly affecting young, healthy people the worst, and that the bug is a never-before-seen intercontinental mixture of human, avian and pig viruses from America, Europe and Asia.

The influenza strain that has struck Mexico and the United States involves, in many cases, a never-before-seen strain of the H1N1 virus. The flu virus is notorious for its ability to mutate and evolve new features that allows it to escape the immune defense systems of its victims. The appearance of new flu strains is therefore a perennial problem for doctors and scientists.

Experts warn that it may be too late to contain the new outbreak, given how widespread the known cases are. If the confirmed deaths are the first signs of a pandemic, then cases are probably incubating around the world by now, said Dr Michael Osterholm, a flu expert at the University of Minnesota.

According to at least one government source the U.S. Government is on the verge of limiting airline flights into the country and forbidding all major public gatherings and that will include closing schools nationwide. The U.S. Government is expected to close the borders and if you’re an American traveling over seas you better head home now as soon even Americans will be barred from entering the country and returning home.

Wide spread quarantines and curfews are expected with National Guard patrolling the streets in America. Much of the Patriot Act shell be implemented and emergency presidenual executive orders to be signed into law to control the people.

Closely held information indicates that this virus may be a synthetic creation and are already manifesting among humans.

Mexican army officer claims the Mexican government believes this virus may have been introduced deliberately by so far unknown sources.

According to medical experts the virus is a very dangerous and deadly “never-before-seen form of the flu that combines pig, bird and human viruses” which consists of an intercontinental mix of viruses from North America, Europe and Asia and there is no known effective vaccine.

Paul Joseph Watson of Infowars is reporting that the “CDC officials detected a virus with a unique combination of gene segments that have not been seen in people or pigs before,” according to AP.

“This strain of swine influenza that’s been cultured in a laboratory is something that’s not been seen anywhere actually in the United States and the world, so this is actually a new strain of influenza that’s been identified,” said Dr. John Carlo, Dallas Co. Medical Director.

Watson further reports that alarming reports are now filtering in about people catching the illness who have had no contact with pigs whatsoever. These include a man and his daughter in San Diego County, a 41-year-old woman in Imperial County and two teenagers in San Antonio, Texas. In fact, in all U.S. cases, the victims had no contact with any pigs.

Dr. Wilma Wooten, San Diego County’s public health officer, told KPBS “We have had person-to-person spread with the father and the daughter,” says Wooten, “And also with the two teenagers in Texas, they were in the same school. So that also indicates person-to-person transfer.”

“Dr. Wooten says it’s unclear how people were exposed to swine flu. She says none of the patients have had any contact with pigs”.

The panic  spreading in Mexico, where over a 1000 cases of pneumonia in the capital alone are suspected to be related to the swine flu and the virus, has hit young and healthy people, which is very rare with a flu outbreak. Despite the danger of a pandemic, the U.S. border with Mexico remains open but ICE and U.S. military is on stand by alert should circumstances change and could close the border within the next few days.

The U.S. Government fears that there will be rioting in the streets of Mexico with Mexicans rushing to the hospitals making the situation dyer and people of Mexico panicking and coming north by the millions for medical attention, food and water.

Mexico had less then a hundred deaths attributed to the virus when they started shutting down their schools and museums and canceled hundreds of public events in its sprawling, overcrowded capital of 20 million people to try to prevent further infections,” Reports Reuters.

“My level of concern is significant,” said Dr. Martin Fenstersheib, the health officer for Santa Clara County. “We have a novel virus, a brand-new strain that’s spreading human to human, and we are also seeing a virulent strain in Mexico that seems to be related. We certainly have concerns for this escalating.”

Watson continues by stating the WHO insists that the outbreak has “pandemic potential”, known generically as oseltamivir, a pill that can both treat flu and prevent infection, according to officials.

Those that have a stake in the Tamiflu vaccine include top globalists and BIlderberg members like George Shultz, Lodewijk J.R. de Vink and former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.

Rumsfeld played   a key role in hyping an outbreak of swine flu back in the 1976 when he urged the entire country to get vaccinated. Many batches of the vaccine were contaminated, resulting in hundreds of sick people and 52 fatalities.

The fact that the properties of the strain are completely new, that the virus is spreading from people to people, and that the young and healthy are being hit worst, has disturbing parallels to the deadly 1918 pandemic that killed millions.

It is unclear as to why, if the virus is a brand new strain, that public health officials are so confident programs of mass vaccination, which are already being prepared, would necessarily be effective.

It certainly wouldn’t be the first time that deadly flu viruses have been concocted in labs and then dispatched with the intention of creating a pandemic.

Last month Czech newspapers questioned if the shocking discovery of vaccines contaminated with the deadly avian flu virus which were distributed to 18 countries by the American company Baxter were part of a conspiracy to provoke a pandemic.

Watson warns in is article that since the probability of mixing a live virus biological weapon with vaccine material by accident is virtually impossible, this leaves no other explanation than that the contamination was a deliberate attempt to weaponize the H5N1 virus to its most potent extreme and distribute it via conventional flu vaccines to the population who would then infect others to a devastating degree as the disease goes airborne.

However, this is not the first time that vaccine companies have been caught distributing vaccines contaminated with deadly viruses.

In 2006 it was revealed that Bayer Corporation had discovered that their injection drug, which was used by hemophiliacs, was contaminated with the HIV virus. Internal documents prove that after they positively knew that the drug was contaminated, they took it off the U.S. market only to dump it on the European, Asian and Latin American markets, knowingly exposing thousands, most of them children, to the live HIV virus. Government officials in France went to prison for allowing the drug to be distributed. The documents show that the FDA colluded with Bayer to cover-up the scandal and allowed the deadly drug to be distributed globally. No Bayer executives ever faced arrest or prosecution in the United States.

Infowars reported yesterday that the last time there was a significant outbreak of a new form of swine flu in the U.S. it originated at the army base at Fort Dix, New Jersey.

The Guardian is reporting that there is no vaccine specifically protects against swine flu and it is unclear how much protection current generic vaccines might offer. A version genetically matched to the new swine flu virus has been created by the US Centers for Disease Control, said Dr Richard Besser, the agency’s acting director. However, it could take months to create enough supplies for mass vaccination programs – if governments decide vaccine production is necessary.

Health officials strongly urge Americans to stay at home avoid crowds and hospitals, wash your hands, mouth and nose several times a day and wear at least a cloth face mask.

Will Churches be Prepared if Pandemic Strikes America?

A mathematical analysis has confirmed that H5N1 avian influenza spread from person-to-person in Indonesia in April, U.S. researchers reported on August 28, 2007.

It is therefore no longer a question if a possible bird flu plague is a hoax perpetrated by governments or pharmaceutical companies, but is a reality that may affect every person on Earth.

The analysis means the virus has mutated to the degree that it now has the potential to race around the world in a matter of weeks, killing millions.

According to Reuters News Service, Ira Longini and colleagues at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle said, “It went two generations and then just stopped, but it could have gotten out of control.”

“The world really may have dodged a bullet with that one, and the next time, we might not be so lucky,” he added.

The researchers estimate the rate of one infected person passing bird flu to another in Indonesia is currently 29 percent. That’s similar to the spread of seasonal flu in the United States.

Confusion About How Bird Flu Spreads

This week there was also news that the Bird Flu had reached Germany. Health officials there killed 160,000 geese in an attempt to stop the spread of the virus.

When people hear news reports about such events, they are often confused about what it means. Even though hundreds of millions of wild birds have died from Avian Influenza that has not generally affected humans.

It becomes a problem when wild birds infect domestic chickens, ducks and geese which live in close proximity to humans. In third-world countries, where people share the same living space with their poultry, they can catch the influenza directly from the birds. There have been hundreds of deaths from this kind of bird-to-human transmission.

What has always concerned health officials is that the virus could mutate and become easily transmittable between humans, and that has now happened according to the research by Dr. Longini and his team.

When the virus spreads beyond the second generation, the virus will race around the world and millions could die in just a few weeks. The last time this happened was during the “Spanish Flu” epidemic of 1918 that killed an estimated 100 million people worldwide. Health officials estimate that 28% of the U.S. population got sick with this virulent flu virus in 1918, and up to 675,000 people died of it that year.

The H5N1 virus the world is now dealing with is a much more virulent virus than the one that spread in 1918, so the death rate is expected to be much higher. Some healthcare researchers say it could kill 1.5 billion people worldwide in a matter of months, but even that number could be low. British healthcare professionals believe there could be up to 700,000 deaths in their country alone.

Do Local Churches Have a Role to Play in a Pandemic?

Unfortunately, many Christians believe that there will be some “magic bullet” to save us at the last moment. They read about pharmaceutical “break-through,” but most are drug company pipe dreams. Even if the drugs they talk about were tested, millions would die before they could be distributed.

Many people think the drug TamiFlu will save them since they have read that governments around the world are stockpiling the drug. TamiFlu is not a panacea, however.

The U.S. has ordered 48 million doses of TamiFlu, only enough for 14% of the population. It is expected that the average person in the U.S. will not have access to it, since doses will go first to government officials, healthcare workers, the military, the police and other essential service workers.

When we did the research for our documentary film, “The Bird Flu Plague: A Survival Strategy for Families & Churches,” we quickly realized that “the government can’t protect us and science can’t save us,” and that is the focus of our preparedness DVD.

Local churches can exercise leadership by preparing for a possible Bird Flu plague, and to alleviate suffering if it comes. Sadly, most churches will wait too long to act, and once it has been announced that the Bird Flu has reached our shores, panic will ensue and the opportunity for preparation will be lost.

Christians should be preparing now. We have a long tradition of helping others during crisis times. For example, a Christian man, John of Ephesus (ca. 430-594 AD), shared his personal suffering from a pandemic.

John recorded that people feared leaving their homes, and when they did they carried identification lest they fall ill in the streets, die, and be buried without word reaching their families.

John of Ephesus, along with later Christian writers, believed pandemics were a method that God used to call people to repentance, and we agree with that.

The research by Dr. Longini and his colleagues has proven that the Bird Flu is now transmittable between humans.

The World Health Organization may raise the worldwide pandemic alert level to Phase 4 or 5 as a result. When it reaches Phase 6 it will mean that there is a sustained transmission of the virus in the general population and millions will die before they can get any help at all.

Swine H1N1 Flu:2009

Dr.Kedar Karki

Swine flu , now known as the 2009 H1N1 flu, is caused by the orthomyxovirus which usually affects pigs but viral mutations allows the virus to cross species to other hosts like humans. The swine influenza virus (SIV) is another example of cross species viral infection which was previously seen with other Zoonotic infections like in civets to humans SARS or Sudden Acute Respiratory Syndrome and from birds to humans as seen with avian (bird) flu.

Unlike SARS and bird flu, swine flu has mutated to the point where the virus can now spread from human-to-human. This current mutation is the cause of the global scare of the recent 2009 outbreak which is feared to become a pandemic. With the popularity of air travel, infected passengers from one region can easily travel to other nations and result in new outbreaks occurring in regions that were not prone to swine flu.

The current human-to-human transmission of swine flu is caused by droplet spread through the contact with infected body fluids as in saliva or mucus when sneezing.

How is Swine Flu H1N1 Spread?

The incubation period (time between exposure and onset of symptoms) is still uncertain, but it appears to be 3-4 days.

All flus are spread by droplets that spray out as a person sneezes or coughs. You can catch Swine Flu H1N1 or any flu virus if:

You are standing within three feet of an uncovered cough or sneeze and droplets make contact with you or if you inhale them. The droplets land on hard surfaces, like a desk top or keyboard. Even after the droplet dries a flu virus could live for over an hour. You can catch the virus by touching an infected surface then touching your eyes, nose, or mouth. You can give to the flu to somebody else by touching their eyes, nose, or mouth if the virus is on your hand. Somebody coughs sneezes or blows their nose into a tissue, and the wet tissue makes contact with their hand or the tissue tears and the contents make contact with their hand. If they touch hard surfaces or shake hands before they wash their hands then they could spread a virus. Flu viruses can also be spread by handling a contaminated cloth handkerchief then touching people or surfaces. An infected person touches their eyes, nose or mouth then touches other surfaces, objects or people before washing their hands.

This is not the same Swine Flu virus people were immunized against in the 1970’s. There is a vaccine for the 2009 Swine Flu Influenza A H1N1 virus under development but even with fast tracking it will take months before it is ready for human trial.

Swine Flu H1N1 is not spread by pigs and you cannot catch Swine Flu H1N1 by eating pork or using medications that are derived from pigs (porcine).

Symptoms of Swine Flu

Swine flu infection causes symptoms that are similar to the symptoms of influenza infection as seen during the annual ‘flu’ season. This may result in many cases of swine flu being misdiagnosed as a common cold or the ‘flu’ and if infected persons do not seek professional medical treatment, the infection can spread further in the general population.

The general symptoms of swine flu include:

Fever with or without chills. Sore throat. Respiratory symptoms, usually a cough or less frequently as dyspnoea (difficulty breathing) or pneumonia. Fatigue and lethargy Myalgia (general body aches) Headaches Diarrhea Vomiting

The current swine flu epidemic has seen gastrointestinal symptoms like diarrhea and vomiting that are more severe than previous swine flu outbreaks. Unfortunately these gastrointestinal symptoms may often be misdiagnosed as a ‘gastric flu’ and it is important to consult with your medical practitioner if your symptoms persist.

Preventing the Spread of Swine Flu H1N1

According to the CDC, proper hand washing is the most effective means of preventing the spread of disease.

Alcohol-based hand sanitizers are also considered effective. Use disposable tissues, clean your hands after every use. Cough into your elbow or shoulder if you do not have a tissue. Preventative treatments (such as Tamiflu) are not recommended for healthy people as this could potentially lead to resistance. Only seek treatment if you have symptoms. People with flu- like symptoms should avoid public places. If your child’s school is closed do not place your child in group settings such as daycare. If there are confirmed cases in your area, limit exposure by avoiding public places and clean your hands often while out and upon returning home. An infected person is contagious about 1 day before they have symptoms so follow proper hand washing guidelines or use alcohol based hand sanitizers often to prevent the accidental spread of the flu. The contagious period lasts for about 7 days after symptoms start, probably longer in children.

China Should Increase Vigilance Against Bird Flu, Says an Expert

Monday, July 27th, 2009
tamiflu

Many health experts worldwide believe that the H5N1 strains of bird flu could mutate into a further form, one which can easily infect and pass from human to human resulting in a pandemic unparallel by anything seen historically.

One bird flu expert in China, Zhong Nanshan, said, “When avian flu is around and human flu appears, this will raise the chances of avian flu turning into a human flu. We have to be very alert and careful in March.”

He further said, “People who were killed by bird flu last year and this year were too poor to seek treatment. If you happen to have high fever and pneumonia, you must seek treatment fast.” He is the director of the Guangzhou Institute of Respiratory Diseases in the southern province of China named as Guangdong, which has its base close to what can only be described as ground zero for the bird flu strain of the virus.

The H5NI strain of the influenza virus, commonly referred to as Avian flu or bird flu, has claimed three human lives in China so far this year. The death of these people has been linked directly to the viral infection by leading experts and would have been contracted either from close contact or by ingesting infected birds. The World Health Organization ruled out any human transmission of infection among these cases. Its spokesman said, “Mutations occur in influenza viruses. Separately from that, the (bird flu) virus continues to be deadly. But there is no new jump in deadliness.”

However, there were some contrasting views from China, where Zhong said, “The bird flu virus has shown signs of mutation. If infected people don’t get treatment in a timely manner, they can die easily.”

Impact of bird flu in the Hong Kong

Hong Kong lies in the south of China and is at the peak of a seasonal flu infection. The flu infection broke out among children in many schools. The authorities reported the death of a 3 year old girl due to human H3N2 flu. They have ordered the schools to conduct fever check ups among children.

One 7 year old boy was also reported to have died. It forced the government to shut the school ahead of the Easter holidays. The causes of death are being probed but the authorities said that boy was admitted to hospital with flu symptoms.

Ever since its first outbreak in 2003, H5N1 virus has infected 372 people worldwide out of which 235 has died.
